Our founding attorney, Mr. Andry, has a Master of Laws (LLM) in environmental law and is an accomplished litigator He was one of the attorneys that took on big tobacco, on behalf of  the State of Louisiana in Louisiana v. American Tobacco Company. Mr. Andry and the other lawyers successfully obtained a settlement wherein the State of Louisiana received 4.4 Billion dollars.  Mr. Andry was also  one  of the principal organizers and one of the lead attorneys in  the litigation against the United States Army Corps of Engineers for the flooding caused by the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In that litigation, Mr. Andry was one of the leaders of the trial team that obtained a favorable verdict for the residents of Orleans and St. Bernard Parishes. The Trial Judge issued a 156 page decision wherein he found that the Corps of Engineers was malfeasant and monumentally negligent.

Mr. Andry has spent  his entire career representing individuals who were the victims of what has become known as a “mass torts.” His career  began with his representation of  Ms. Eugenie Standeford against AH Robbins. Standeford died of toxic sepsis, after a 50-day hospital stay, as a direct result of her use of a "Dalkon Shield" IUD.  The “Dalkon Shield '' case was against AH Robbins for marketing and selling a product they knew would wick bacteria into womans’ wombs. Women who wore the Dalkon Shield, which was on the market from 1970 to 1974, ran more than twice the risk of other IUD wearers of developing pelvic inflammatory disease” (PID), which is a severe infection in a woman’s uterus. PID often lead to infertility or sterility, sepsis (blood poisoning), miscarriage (especially the potentially lethal mid-pregnancy septic abortion), and to death. Some cases, like Ms. Standeford’s, result in sepsis, organ failure and, possibly, death.  The “Dalkon Shield '' case was MDL 211 and was a landmark case that transformed how mass torts were/are litigated in the United States.

It is currently more important than ever to hold responsible parties accountable for the harm they caused to thousands, or even millions, of people.
